Why is my brew overflowing?Updated 2 hours ago

If you notice liquid overflowing from the tube or keg during fermentation, it’s usually caused by pressure release issues or an incorrect setup. This is a common and easy-to-fix problem.

Below are the most common reasons and how to resolve them.

Most Common Causes of Overflow

1. The tube is not fully inserted

If the tube is not securely inserted into the dispensing outlet or faucet, pressure may escape unevenly and cause liquid to overflow.

What to do:

  • Push the tube firmly into the outlet until it is fully seated

  • Make sure there are no gaps or loose connections

2. The valve is not fully closed during fermentation

During fermentation, the valve must remain in the closed position.
If the valve is open, internal pressure may force liquid out through the tube.

What to do:

  • Confirm the valve is fully closed before fermentation starts

  • Do not open the valve during fermentation

3. The dispensing outlet is not tightened

A loose dispensing outlet can allow air leakage, which disrupts pressure balance and leads to overflow.

What to do:

  • Check that the dispensing outlet is securely tightened

  • Ensure the gasket is properly aligned

Important Reminders

  • Do not dispense or open the valve during fermentation

  • Always double-check tube connections before starting a brew

  • Overflow during fermentation is usually a setup issue, not a machine defect
